Chakwera apologizes on BBC for COVID-19 childish remarks by Novice Saulos Chilima

BBC GRILLS CHAKWERA AS THE MCP LEADER SAYS SORRY OVER CHILIMA’S RECKLESS REMARKS ON COVID-19

Saulos Chilima made life difficult for Reverend Chakwera over his remarks stating that it is safe for members of the opposition Tonse Alliance to hug each other and not contract infectious diseaseCOVID-19.

“If you see someone wearing MCP or UTM or PP regalia, hug them, you can’t infect each other with disease,” said the country’s estranged Vice-President in a televised political campaign rally on Sunday.

Chilima, who is UTM Party president and running mate to Malawi Congress Party (MCP) presidential hopeful Lazarus Chakwera, was speaking when he addressed Tonse Alliance rally at Likuni Boys Secondary School ground in Lilongw

However, The BBC Focus on Africa has taken Chakwera to task and he had to say sorry and apologize over the careless remarks made by novice Saulos Chilima.

In one of the public rallies Chilima told people that there are no Coronavirus in Malawi and that people can go about their normal lives. In the BBC interview, Chakwera insinuated that Chilima is simply childish and made that remark ‘with tongue in cheek’.

The BBC has helped to reveal further the hidden rift between MCP and UTM as Chakwera and Chilima can simply not walk together.

  1. All in all we all thank God for uniting us together, MCP and UTM. lets build Malawi together. I love Malawi, I love the president, I love Chilima. Lets join together by not finding faults in one another

  2. In most rallies, Chilima is more of attacking personalities, which are signs of someone who is bitter. He has rarely based on issues, but castigation. He needs to be advised otherwise he will turnish the image of the MCP.

  3. The cracks in their alliance is manifesting in good time in order for Malawians to make informed choices. Chilima sees things only up to the tip of his nose. He is conceited and proud, which is parallel to good leadership. If he came in the sixties, possibly he would have managed winning a few hearts from people. Unfortunately, today’s malawi is a totally different thing. At the rate he is going, his political future is murky. He has basically dug his own grave. Good tidings.
