Chakwera arrives at JNICC for Summit

DAR ES SALAAM-(MANA)-President Lazarus Chakwera has arrived at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in the United Republic of Tanzania to attend the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit.

The conference which has drawn 13 African Heads of State and other partners will give a forum for the leaders to discuss ways of advancing the Mission 300 initiative aimed at scaling energy access and accelerate the continent`s clean energy transition.

Mission 300 initiative aims to provide electricity access to 300 million people in Africa by the year 2030.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Malawi, the heads of state attending the meeting will adopt the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration at the end of the Summit.

The declaration outlines commitments and practical actions from the African governments to reform the energy sector and the first set of National Energy Compacts which will serve as blueprints with country specific targets and timelines for implementation of critical reforms.

Discussions will centre on accelerating energy access in undeserved regions, energy efficiency and mobilizing private sector investment, among others.

Among other African leaders attending the Summit are the President of Nigeria Bola Tinubu and Kenyan President William Ruto.
