BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Civil Service Women head coach Collins Pofera has expressed disappointment that his side failed to win the National Bank Women’s Premiership in their first ever season.

Pofera made the remarks after his team defeated FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women by single goal in a league match played on Thursday afternoon at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

Civil Service Women went into the encounter fresh from two zero a victory over Silver Strikers Ladies, while Bullets Women were coming from a win against Mighty Wanderers Queens by single goal.

The first half ended goalless, with both teams struggling to create clear cut chances.

However, Civil Service Women made the breakthrough in the second half after capitalising on a defensive error by Bullets defender Benedetta Mkandawire.

Vitumbiko Mkandawire made no mistake in the 57th minute, finishing calmly from a well delivered pass by Annah Baziliyo to give Civo the lead.

After the match, Bullets Women head coach Maggie Chombo admitted that her side did not play well, which cost them the game.

Chombo said the defeat was painful, noting that it was Bullets Women’s first loss in the second round of the league.

Despite the loss, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women remain third on the log table with 31 points from 17 matches.

Civil Service Women are fifth with 28 points, also from 17 games, as the National Bank Women’s Premiership season nears its conclusion.
