Lilongwe, February 13: Ambassadors for Cuba and Republic of Korea have said they would want to go into strong diplomatic ties with Malawi.
Speaking Friday when they presented letters of credence at Kamuzu Palace to President Prof. Peter Mutharika, Ambassador Kwon Yung-Kyu from the Republic of Korea and Mrs. Caridad Perez
Gonzales from Cuba said they are for strong diplomatic ties with Malawi as they would like to venture in different programs.
According to Ambassador Mrs. Caridad Perez Gonzales of Cuba said as she starts her work, she would like to revive the cordial relationship that has been existing between Malawi and her country.
Said Ambassador Gonzales; “I would like to revive the collaboration in possible areas, for example that time we had collaboration in the field of scholarships, I will do my very best during my tenure as Ambassador to revive this so that illiterate is eradicated.
We would also collaborate in the field of disaster; furthermore, we will also venture into the health sector so that we combat malaria.”
On his part Kwon Yung-Kyu of Republic of Korea said as we will be celebrating five years of cordial relationship, they would like to turn around the relationship by celebrating the fifth anniversary with cultural performances.
“My embassy is planning a cultural performance and comedy workshop,” he said.
The two Ambassadors are Harare based.
Others who also presented their letters of credence are Ambassador Mr. Timo Olkonnen of Finland and Mr. Leonidas Contovounesiso of Greece.
