Today, Gertrude and I have safely arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia through the Bole International Airport, for the 18th Session of Heads of State and Government of COMESA. What a warm welcome!
Among other things, the Summit will bring forth issues of supply side constrains on tradable goods in the international and regional market. This Summit is also expected to discuss peace and security in the sub-region and seek solutions to the challenges as well as address key issues of negotiation on economic partnership agreement with Europe Union (EU).
In addition, the summit will discuss last year’s achievements and progress made by COMESA and look into the implementation status of the various relevant COMESA agreements.
It is also from this gathering that Prime Minister, Hailemarim Dessalegn will take over the chairmanship from President Joseph Kabila of Congo to serve as Chairperson of COMESA until the next session next year
