BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Veteran journalist Dickson Kashoti, who is widely perceived as a hardcore Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadet, has praised President Lazarus Chakwera for raising “the presidential office bar and expectations.”

According to Kashoti, Chakwera is the excellent president Malawi has ever had since the dawn of multiparty democracy.

“So far, president Dr Lazarus Chakwera has shown that he can make an excellent state president and he is an excellent state president, as of now for that matter. Looks like he had time to look into the weaknesses of his predecessors, mostly Peter Mutharika, Joyce Banda, Bingu wa Mutharika and Bakili Muluzi.

“His decision to partner with the hardworking and brilliant state vice president Dr Saulos Chilima has just perfected matters. Now, Dr Chakwera has raised the presidential office bar and expectations. This calls for him to keep this legacy intact,” he wrote on his official facebook page.

However, Kashoti is of the view that Chakwera can go into the annals of history if he can borrow a leaf from the legend Nelson Mandela who ruled South Africa for only one term.

“The best way for him to have his legacy intact and be remembered in Malawi and beyond our borders is for him to govern for one term, the legendary Nelson Mandela wayLet others continue with his good job,” he says.

Towards the June 23 Fresh Presidential Election Kashoti declared unwavering support for the former ruling DPP and Professor Peter Mutharika.
