FD Communications scoops Malawi advertising agency award 4th time

By Yami Sekeni

Malawi’s leading media communications firm, FD Communications Ltd has reclaimed the Institute of Marketing Malawi (IMM) annual Advertising Agency Award following outstanding work in 2020 for Malawi Stock Exchange-listed Standard Bank Plc and TNM Plc, among others.

FD returned to the summit of the IMM Excellence Awards for the fourth time having dominated them in 2016, 2017 and 2018, respectively. The Advertising Agency of Year award category is linked to Campaign of Year and Creative and Graphic Designer of Year, both of which FD Communications contributed.

IMM Marketing Excellence Awards Chief Judge Mercus Chigoga singled out FD Communications Ltd for its work on the “IT CAN BE” campaign for Standard Bank Plc, which in turn was also awarded as the Campaign of 2020.

“FD won the agency award because of applying big ideas based on insightful understanding of customer needs and translating them into simple and outstanding creative works. They also excelled in translating their creative ideas across multiple media platforms,” said Chigoga.

FD’s Andrew Kamwendo was crowned as Creative/Graphic Artist of Year. Kamwendo heads the advertising agency’s creative studio portfolio for Standard Bank Plc.

Standard Bank Plc went on to scoop different categories of this year’s awards with the “It Can Be” campaign, including producing their Head of Marketing and Communications Thoko Unyolo as overall “Marketer of the Year.”

On the night of awards, which proceeded after a two-day IMM annual lake conference graced by Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, FD’s other client, telecoms and ICT firm TNM plc scooped three Marketing Excellence awards.

FD’s Director of Media Management and Client Service Chifundo Scott attributed the accolades to discipline, hard work and upholding professional and ethical standards. “At FD, teams don’t sleep until they find solutions to our clients’ communication problems. We would also like to thank our clients for their patience and trusting us to deliver. Going forward, we promise to continue striving for excellence in our work,” he said.

FD Communications Ltd provides advertising, Public Relations, brand management and media production services to clients in both private and public sector. The company also works in the social marketing arena, aiming to support development communications for public and donor-financed projects.
