LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has set two Memorial Masses for the peaceful repose of His Grace Archbishop Emeritus Remi Ste Marie to allow many to join in praying for the repose of his soul.

In a communiqué to priests, brothers, sisters and members of the Catholic faithful signed by George Desmond Tambala, Archbishop of Lilongwe Catholic Archdiocese, says the first Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 with the second one on Saturday, June 23, 2022 at Maula Cathedral and Maula Podium respectively.

Archbishop Emeritus Remi Ste Marie: Remembered for good heart

The communiqué says His Grace, Most Reverend Remi Ste Marie was their father and shepherd in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, he served as Bishop of Lilongwe from July 4, 2007 and later, on February 9, 2011, he assumed the office of the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe and retired on July 3, 2013.

His Grace, Most Reverend Remi Ste Marie died peacefully at his home in Canada where he went to receive treatment.

President Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Saulosi Chilima have since sent their messages of condolences to the bereaved family of Archbishop Remi Ste Marie and the entire Catholic congregations following his death.

In his eulogy, Chakwera says he has been saddened by the passing on Archbishop Remi Gustave Ste Marie describing his passing as a great loss to the church and Malawi in particular.

On his part, Chilima said Archbishop Remi Ste Marie dedicated his life to serve the wider Catholic Community and the Malawi nation serving God and his flock, describing his passing on as a great loss.

The late His Grace, Most Reverend Remi Ste Marie was born on January 11, 1938 and was a member of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers).
