BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s football giants FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have been hit with a major setback after FIFA imposed a ban on the club, preventing them from registering new players both locally and internationally.
The punishment comes after the club failed to comply with a financial ruling involving Zimbabwean midfielder Ronald Chitiyo.
In a letter dated September 17, 2025, signed by FIFA’s Head of Disciplinary, Américo Espallargas, FIFA stated that the registration ban will remain in place until Bullets settle the outstanding amount owed to Chitiyo.
The world football governing body warned that the ban could last for a maximum of three consecutive registration periods if the matter is not resolved urgently.
“A ban from registering new players internationally and nationally has been implemented by FIFA on the Respondent. The registration ban will remain active until the amount due is paid and for a maximum duration of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods,” reads part of the FIFA letter.
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has been instructed to enforce the ban immediately to ensure that the club does not register any new players at national level until full compliance is achieved.
Ronald Chitiyo, who once played for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, lodged a complaint to FIFA after the club failed to meet its contractual obligations.
FIFA had previously ruled in his favor, directing Bullets to pay the player his dues but the club allegedly ignored the directive, prompting this stern action.
The letter, which was also copied to FAM General Secretary Desmond Maringwa, puts additional pressure on the local football governing body to ensure full compliance.
As of now, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has not issued any official statement but there is growing anticipation among supporters and the football fraternity on how the club will respond to FIFA’s directive and resolve the dispute with Ronald Chitiyo.
