Mike Tyson’s clash with Roy Jones Jnr, has been postponed from September 12, to November 28. According to American news media outlet The Ring, the match was pushed back in a bid to increase revenue. The former undisputed heavyweight champion Tyson will be making a huge comeback in Carson, California after 15 years he last stepped into the ring.
The head of the California State Athletic Commission Andy Foster has said that he expects the clash between Tyson and former light heavyweight champion Jones to be a sparring session.
But 51-year-old Jones had insisted that he will keep up his guard as if it was a real fight because he is smaller in size than Iron Mike.
“It’s a sparring session, but I’m taking no chances because I’m the small guy here,” Jones told Yahoo. “Andy Foster can’t control Mike once Mike gets in the ring. I’ve got to defend myself like I’m in a real fight. If Mike goes out there and decides to start hammering, what am I supposed to do, look at Andy? “Hell no! I’ve got to defend myself and get back in it. I have heard what Andy Foster said, but I also know what Mike said. I have to get myself ready for whatever Mike may bring. I have to be ready for war.” The Baddest Man on the Planet lost to Kevin McBride when he last fought in the ring in 2015 while Jones defeated Scott Sigmon in 2018.
