The heartbreaking news has sent shockwaves across the sporting world, with the Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board leading tributes to the fallen fighter.
In an emotional statement, Board President Lonzoe Defector Zimba, together with board members, boxers, ringside officials, promoters, and managers, said they had received the news “with deep shock and unbearable sorrow.”
Ncube, a proud son of Zimbabwe and celebrated ring warrior, reportedly slipped into a coma after his fiercely contested battle against Lunga Stimela at Eastdene Community Hall.

As tributes continue pouring in from across Southern Africa, the Malawi boxing fraternity described Ncube as a lion whose legacy will forever echo through the halls of African boxing.
“The lion roared. The lion conquered. The lion left his marks,” the statement declared emotionally. “In our hearts, our golden boy will be remembered forever.”
