MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Karonga United’s run of bad form continued on Saturday after being humbled 1-0 by fellow strugglers Civo Service United in a TNM Super League match.
The match which was played at the Karonga Stadium in front of a small crowd saw Binwell Katingi’s 45th minute header prove decisive in settling the tight and nervy encounter.

The home side who despite dominating ball possession offered little in terms of goal-scoring opportunities as their recent lack of a cutting edge in front of goal continues to desert them as they have failed to find the back of the net in three out of their last four league encounters.
Their only real chances of note came in the first half when the game was goalless but Ramadhan Ntafu and Josia Duwa missed two great openings when unmarked in side the six yard box from well taken Gift Kasambala corners.
However Civil who by their own standards have underperformed this season picked up a much needed victory following last week’s defeat to Mafco FC.
The returning William Mwalwimba who made his name at his home town club at Karonga put his usual all action display at the heart of the Lilongwe based giants defense in frustrating his former side.
With the win Civil Service United move a place up on the 16 member league to eighth with 27 points to their name from 22 matches while Karonga United remain in 11th with 23 points from 20 matches respectively.
In a post-match interview Civil Sporting coach Franco Ndawa, expressed delight in picking up the three points.
“I thought we were really good today from the back to the forwards we really stuck to our game plan and the win was much deserved.
Never the less Karonga United Technical Director Alufeyo Chipanga, bemoaned his lad’s composure in front of goal attributing the defeat to a lack of a cutting edge.
“The game was ours for the taken but just as in our recent matches we are failing to score goals despite playing an open attacking style so the loss is frustrating as our performances does not reflect the results we have been getting.” A visibly frustrated Chipanga said.
