LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse government is expected to commence Lilongwe-Salima water way project on March 1st this year.
Minister of water and sanitation, Abida Mia disclosed the development in an interview with Maravi Post on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.

Mia said government has secured funds from the Centra bank which will help the commencement of the project.
She addded that the project will run for 24 months and will help in both irrigation sectors and access to safe water.
The assurance comes after Lilongwe City Center , Member of Parliament (MP), Alfred Jia asked the minister on the project’s progress.
Jia said Lilongwe residents are eagerly waiting for access to portable water day and night.
Lilongwe-Salima water way project contract was offered to Khato Civils but it has been politicized since 2016.
The project has since undergone changes that now its priced at MK500 billion.
