Malawi fuel prices up

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (Mera) has hiked fuel prices upwards effective midnight, December 16, 2020.

This means prices for goods and services will automatically go up due to fuel hike .

Mera Spokesperson Fitina Khonje told the news conference this evening in the capital Lilongwe that petrol has been increased from MK690. 50 to MK834. 60 representing 20.87 percent, diesel has been increased from MK664. 80 to MK826. 40 representing 24.31 percent and paraffin from MK441. 70 to MK613. 20 representing 38.83 percent.

Khonje however attributed to the increase in fuel landing costs and the depreciation of the Kwacha by 3.37 percent since May this year.

Motorists have been enjoying low prices fuels since March 2020 immediately after partial Covid-19 lockdown.
