Malawi Govt cogitating on re-administering JCE exams amid calls

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Malawi Government through ministry of education, science and technology on Wednesday says is still pondering on calls that Junior Certificate Education (JCE) examination be brought back.

This follows numerous calls from some quarters of the society that the removal of the exams was a suicidal to Malawi education.

Education Minister Dr William Susuwele Banda was addressing the news conference in the capital Lilongwe ahead of this year’s World Teachers Celebration slated for October 4 at crossroads hotel, whose “Young teachers the future if the profession”.

Dr Susuwele Banda said that many Malawians want JCE exams to start again.

“As a ministry they will look into the calls in meeting people’s demands”, he assured.

The minister therefore assured the nation that will also promote teachers to have degrees not only certificates.

During the event, the ministry will recognize both primary and secondary school teachers.

The teachers will also be given the awards for their good work they are doing in promoting education in Malawi.
