Malawi Police nets a man for killing a daughter while fighting with the wife

The Malawi Police in Salima are keeping in custody a man for allegedly killing his five months-old daughter while was fighting fiercely with the wife on family issues.

Gift Chitowe, Salima Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed to Maravi Post the arrest of Madalitso Malowa, aged 23 who committed the offence on Sunday May 17, 2015 at Kambwiri village the district which followed the arrest on the same day.

 

Chitowe told Maravi Post in an interview that the suspect was fighting with his wife after family matters disagreement and they were fighting while the wife was carrying the five months daughter on her back as Malowa’s punch (blow) which was meant for her wife ended landing at his daughter who fainted on the spot.

The Salima Police Publicist said the deceased was rushed to Salima district hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival as the medical personnel said the baby died due to head injuries.

“This is very unfortunately as an innocent child died due to misunderstanding of family issues instead of settling them amicably. Then, we arrested the man immediately when the matter was reported to us as this one of the domestic violence cases”, said Chitowe.

Malowa hails from Kambwiri village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Kambwiri in Salima district as he remains in police custody waiting to appear before court to answer murder charges.
