LILONGWE (Maravipost): Regardless of the country not reporting any confirmed cases of Mpox,44 arlet signals of Mpox have been reported from several districts.
Deputy Director of Promotive Heath, Kondwani Mamba, made the remarks during media orientation training on Mpox in Mponera on Tuesday,y, 23 September.
Mamba said following the surge of Mpox cases in African countries with trade and travel connections with Malawi, the Ministry of Health has intensified border post-screening exercises.
He called upon the media to disseminate more on Mpox signs and symptoms to avoid it spread once registered.
He adds that the ministry has developed information Education and Communication materials in English and Chichewa including jingles and leaflets for public awareness.
He said meanwhile, the ministry had trained 195 health workers from 20 districts and 4 Central hospitals in readiness for any Mpox disease.
Malawi remains at risk of Mpox infection in line with the neighboring countries’ effect.
