
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The country’s young girls and women movement, Green Girls Platform is spearheading climate changes policies capacity building on national and international levels.
With funding from Mama cash, Green Girls Platform alongside National Youth Network on Climate Change (NYNCC) on Friday, November 20, 2020 mentored about 35 girls in the capital Lilongwe drawn from high learning institutions and among others.
Green Girls Platform National Coordinator Joy Munthali told The Maravi Post that the training its a continuation of capacity building for a vibrant women movement on climate change champions.
‘The aim of the workshop is to build the capacity of girls and young women on the climate change status in Malawi, Climate justice in the context of human rights, environmental governance and the role of young women in the climate justice movement.
“We had outstanding young who are doing a lot for the country and beyond on climate change and smart agriculture that through their presentations the participants be inspired to take action with informed decision,” says Munthali.
Heather Maseko Msyale, Program Analyst Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction at UNDP inspired the young girls on Environmental and Climate Justice and the role of women and girls in the Climate Justice movement.
Ruth Mhone, one of girls empowered on climate change polices applauded the movement’s initiative for inspiration during the session.
