LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s hip-hop heavy weight, Gwamba says collaborations requires artists to have the same goals in response to what people said at the matured lyrics in a freestyle video clip he shared on his Facebook page about Waxy Kay.
Gwamba on Thursday gave an indication of Fredokiss and him who in spite of being friends and sharing a booth over 50 times, they only have a song together titled ‘Nthawi Zanji’ which later became a hit.
“You know Fredo is my good friend right? We have been in studio together more tha 50 times, but we only have one song together, and it is a hit. You know why? Collaborations don’t just happen. You need to have the same goal in the same mood for you to do a good song,” Gwamba said.
As young as he looks, the one-time award winning rapper, Waxy Kay, real name Wonderful Kapenga who has fascinated a degree of praises from Gwamba who came out in open that ‘Za Zii’ [Waxy K] hit maker is a future custodian of M-Dubz hip-hop.
Gwamba was adored with Waxy Kay’s lyrics until he captioned it ‘Young King Waxy, Mature lyrics, the game is in safe hands.’
The caption attracted four thousand likes and prompted some fans to call for a collaboration of the two.
One of the followers, Mabvuto Leliano commented: “From Zambia, please Mr. Gwamba do something with this young king,” Leliano said.
Gwamba asked for patience that he would soon come up with something with the young king.
“I love Waxy K, I am a big fan, but I can’t jump on a song with him because people on Facebook say we should. When the time and mood is right, it will happen, and it will be a hit,” Gwamba said.
Commenting on the matter, Waxy Kay said there is a plan of Gwamba and him on a song.
“You know what? People talk a lot when they see a post, but what I can assure tehm that I am very ready to make collaboration. We already have plan on that even though we haven’t come up with the concept because at first we wanted to sing a remixed song which he sang with Lulu titled ‘Opanda Yesu Tsoka or Tsoka’.
“We then thought it wise to come up with our own lyrics. I also need to appreciate Gwamba, his one of my fans and I learn from him, all I can say is big up my guy,” Waxy Kay said.
Waxy Kay raised to prominence in 2017 with his songs ‘Za Zii’ shot by the award winning video director, Vj Ken and My Foot which enjoyed massive airplays, a feat that was to accolade him the Urban Music People (UMP) in 2017 New Act Award.
