LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Police at Lingadzi Station Executive Committee (SEC) has on 20th September 2020 had it’s first executive meeting with was held at Ufulu gardens.
The aim of the meeting was to deliberate on work plan and addressing fears of any form of crime in partnership with the police.
Speaking during the meeting, the Officer In-Charge for Lingadzi police, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP),Neppier Thomson Chafikana thanked the committee for adhering to deliberations of the first meeting.
He also appreciated the help that area 10 and 12 Crime Prevention Committees (CPCs) are doing towards fighting crime.
“When fighting crime cases, let’s not forget to look into road traffic cases where we have seen road accidents at a rise. However, I want to appeal to the committee to look into condition of our station since the office doesn’t befit the current standard of Lingadzi police as a full station,” said Chafikana.
The Officer In-Charge also reminded the gathering that lack of resources makes the station’s daily work very difficult. He assured the committee to report any misguided police officers for he will not condone such behaviour.
In his remarks, SEC Chairperson, Dr Matthews Mtumbuka assured the gathering that his committee will work tirelessly to make sure that the condition of the station is up to standard.
“My vision is to see Lingadzi SEC becoming the model in this country. Other stations will be learning from us. In my two year tenure, I will put Lingadzi on the map grobaly,” said Mtumbuka.
Lingadzi SEC is a community led and non profit organization based forum working closely in partnership with Lingadzi Police Station, organizations and individuals in the pursuit of safety and security for the communities in order to create a just society.
Lingadzi SEC partly covers under its command, such areas as T/A Chimutu, T/A Chitukula and T/A Njewa.
This means that chairpersons from various community policing structures shall be empowered to take a leading role in matters of safety and security, hence improved quality of life for all people as well as changes in attitudes and structures which perpetuate human suffering and injustice.
