Malawi’s Paul Chidale triumphs in 2025 SeedCo Open Golf championship

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s celebrated golfer, Paul Chidale emerged as the overall winner for 2025 SeedCo Open Golf tournament.

Chidale goes away with U$5,000 as prize money.

During the prize presentation held held over the weekend at Lilongwe Golf Club, Chidale secured a total carding rounds of 71, 67, 70 and 67.

Second on the slot, Zibambwe’s Tonderai Masunga on second position with scores of 71, 72, 72, and 73 as Promise Sombriero claimed third position with rounds of 74, 70, 73, and 72.

Reacting to the victory, Chidale says, “I did not deserve the win. There were a lot of starts who registered for the tournament but coming out successful.

“Its just a lucky, am encouraging amateur to always be determined for the game.”

Seed Co Malawi Limited Managing Director Boyd Luwe lauded the patronage, resilience and the hard work of all golfers both international and national.

Luwe therefore pledged to come strong next year with another exciting activities.

“We believe in community participation as our customers come from the communities, we look at Paul the winner today is a local champ.

“The company is committed to keep supporting sports in the country as at the moment we are supporting golf but if farmers will keep supporting as we are also going to extend our commitment to other sporting activities,” Luwe said.

Echoing the same, Professional Golfers Association President General Henry O’dillo (Retired) commended Seedco for keeping the spot vibrant while meeting international standards.

O’dillo also lauded Chidale for his exceptional talent and hard working winning the huge amount of money.

“We have a huge talent in the country as am happy we are making progress, as a professional player there is a lot that goes around with it I just urge all amateur to follow what Paul has set,” he said.

The tournament attracted about 450 golfers from Zimbabwe, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania and Uganda.

Seed Co Malawi Limited pumped US$20, 000 towards the tournament as the company celebrates 25 years of service to Malawi since 2000.
