BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture Micheal Usi has urged artists in the country to use the death of gospel icon George Mkandawire as an alarm to put a step towards putting out a united front to start creating jobs.
Usi expressed his sentiments at Robins Park Hall in Blantyre during the funeral service for musician Mkandawire who died last week in Zambia
He said it is worrisome to note that local musicians are struggling to thrive because they are not united.
The minister therefore had called out musicians for pulling each other to help the development of the industry.
“They are some musicians here who were supposed to be employing people in the same music industry.
“Musicians in this country do not love each other hence not succeeding”, he said.
Also former Musicians Union of Malawi president Reverend Chimwemwe Mhango also expressed his sadness over Mkandawire’s demise saying not only the relatives and those who where close to George but also the country has lost a great person in music industry.
Among other attendees were minister of Trade Roy Kachale Banda, Skeffa Chimoto, Faith Mussa and many Musicians.
