Malawi has now arts and Culture welfare fund

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Minister of tourism arts and Culture Michael Usi officially launched arts and Culture welfare fund in Lilongwe on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

Speaking during the launch the minister said artist can help the country to develop economically if they are doing the duties professionally.

Usi also disclosed that Malawi Gaming Lottery Board has pumped in 16 million kwacha into the artist welfare as a start up capital.

Chief executive officer of Malawi Gaming Lottery Board Foster Mlumbe pledged the continued support to the industry.

Mulumbe said the start up fund will serve as a trial phase to see how it will be managed to pump in more funds.

Speaking with the Maravi Post Film Association of Malawi president Ezieus Mkandawire said the launch has come at a right time as it will serve some of the challenges facing artist.

He further said the fund will help in employing young people.
