Mpinganjira not for DPP Presidency

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Former FDH Bank Chief Executive Officer Dr. Thomson Mpinganjira has disputed social media reports that was vying for opposition Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) presidency post.

Mpinganjira’s clarification comes barely a month before DPP holds much anticipated convention aimed at selecting party’s leadership.

He told the Maravi Post there is no any political move after retiring from business venture.

“This is fake, I am not contesting for any political position in any political party,” disputes Mpinganjira.

Unconfirmed reports shows that former Malawi Central Bank governor Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, Walter Nyamilandu, Kondwani Nankhumwa, Joseph Mwanamveka are vying for the post.

DPP power crisis ignited after June 23, 2020 Presidential loss to Tonse administration led by President Lazarus Chakwera.

Former President Peter Mutharika who is also DPP leader will handle over power to whoever wins during the February 2021 convention.
