BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Mitundu Baptist Football Club has strongly dismissed claims circulating on social media that the team is being put up for sale, describing the reports as false and misleading.
The club, which has just earned promotion to Malawi’s elite football league, says there are no plans whatsoever to sell the team despite growing speculation online.
One of the club’s senior officials, Alex Chimwenje, has come out clearly to deny the rumours, insisting that Mitundu Baptist remains fully under its current ownership and management.
Chimwenje told Maravi Post publication ,that although there have been stories suggesting that some individuals are interested in buying the club, no one has formally approached them with such intentions.
He emphasized that the club’s leadership has not held any discussions, negotiations or meetings with any potential buyers regarding the sale of the team.
According to Chimwenje, the management is currently focused on preparations for top-flight football rather than entertaining unfounded claims that distract the team and its supporters.
Mitundu Baptist recently made headlines after securing promotion to the TNM Super League for the first time in the club’s history.
The team achieved this milestone after finishing in position number three in the National Division League, a result that was good enough to earn promotion.
Their rise has attracted attention from football fans across the country, with many praising the club’s organization and steady progress.
However, the excitement surrounding their promotion has also been accompanied by rumours, particularly on social media platforms, suggesting a possible change of ownership.
Chimwenje described such reports as speculative and urged the public to rely on verified information from official club sources.
He further stated that Mitundu Baptist will proudly compete in the 2026 TNM Super League season as an independent club, staying true to its identity and vision.
