The main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP)’s Spokesperson Jessie Kabwira has on Tuesday, morning, February, 23 released on bail and charged with treason following her arrest on Monday at Germany Embassy entrance gate in the capital Lilongwe.

The arrest of Kabwira contravenes the law of the land which stipulates that any Member of Parliament (MP) cannot be arrested when coming or going to Parliament.

Kabwira who is legislator for Salima North West constituency spent a night at Kanengo police where he has been charged with treason not sedition as earlier indicated.

Speaking to The Maravi Post soon after the release at around 06:00 hours of Tuesday hinted that will continue speaking for the voiceless who were in dare need of food, potable water, and adequate medical in public hospitals.

“I have been charged with treason not sedition which I see it as sloughing matter as this is based on WhatsApp conversation. I am happy that I felt the same with Malawians who are dying of hunger when all in all the leadership of this country says no one will die of hunger.

“The fight for the poor ranges on until this DPP government fixes our ailing economy as MCP remains the hope for Malawians. I’m expected to appear at the police again on February 26, 2016 where we will hear details of the case.

“Right now I will go directly to Parliament to continue speaking for our poor people who are lavishing with numerous challenges while the leadership of this country is busy arresting people for political interests. If they are just crying with WhatsApp conversation then it means are incapable to win the trust of people that are in control”, challenges Kabwira who was in company of MCP Secretary General Gustav Kaliwo who is also her lawyer.

Hundreds MCP supporters welcomed Kabwira after the releases whom mounted the vigil at Kanengo police station the whole night.

Meanwhile the police are still hunting Chakwantha a lawmaker for Lilongwe Rural South West are reports show that he was seeking refuge at Germany Embassy offices in the capital Lilongwe.
