MANGOCHI-(MaraviPost)-Legislator for Mangochi South West Constituency, Shadric Namalomba, has called on Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) supporters to take an active role in promoting development in their areas, emphasizing that collective efforts are crucial for the party’s continued success.

Namalomba, who also serves as Minister of Information and Communications Technology, stressed that every individual has a responsibility to ensure that government programs, such as the Farm Inputs Subsidy Program, are implemented without corruption, highlighting the need for transparency and accountability.

Speaking at the New Year celebrations in Chilipa ward, Namalomba expressed gratitude to the people for voting for Peter Mutharika as President, himself as MP, and Kumbolera as councillor, all from the DPP, and assured them that development projects are in the pipeline.

The legislator outlined plans to bring electricity to the area, construct a secondary school and a technical college, and resume construction of a health facility, which had stalled, demonstrating the DPP’s commitment to improving infrastructure and services.

Namalomba also assured the people that the DPP-led administration will prioritize food security, providing relief food and ensuring timely access to farm inputs, while warning local leaders against engaging in malpractices, emphasizing the need for integrity in program implementation.

Furthermore, Namalomba announced that beginning January 5, public primary school learners will no longer be required to pay school fees, and those in public secondary schools will be exempt from fees, as the government has abolished them, highlighting the party’s focus on education.

Group Village Headman Njoka commended Namalomba for celebrating the election victory and new year with his constituents, assuring him of the chiefs’ support for development initiatives, demonstrating the strong partnership between leaders and communities.

DPP governor for Mangochi, Salire Mdala, urged people to rally behind Namalomba, saying the time for politicking is over, emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation in driving development.

The New Year celebrations, marked by lunch, dancing, and football matches, were a testament to the strong bond between the legislator and his constituents, with Namalomba slaughtering five cows for the people to eat, showcasing his commitment to their welfare.

The event demonstrated the DPP’s commitment to engaging with communities and delivering on its promises, with Namalomba’s assurances and announcements reflecting the party’s focus on development and people-centered policies.
