BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-A new book titled “The Colour of Rain” was launched in Blantyre on the afternoon of July 27, 2025.
Speaking during the launch, the author Anthony Basil Manyozo said he spent MK6 million to publish the book.
Manyozo said the book is now available on the market and carries a message that reflects his passion for storytelling.
The Colour of Rain is a romantic novel that explores the complexities of love across social and economic divides.
“The story is set against the backdrop of Monkey Bay, Mangochi, where a poor fisherman falls in love with a Clinical Officer. If people want to know more, they must buy the book,” he said.
Book reviewer Foster Benjamin praised Anthony for choosing to write a story that reflects Malawian life.
“You can’t write an American story if you’ve never been to America. When you open this book, from the very first page, you’re welcomed by the lake the beautiful face of the lake.
“It clearly tells us that The Colour of Rain is set along the lakeshore. The image of the lake in this book is one of the most vivid and powerful,” he said.
In his speech, the guest of honour, Professor Francis Moto, urged writers not to be lazy simply because of the rise of digital platforms.
He also encouraged people to make time for reading books.
The guest of honour bought five copies of the book.
He said he would donate one to the University of Malawi (UNIMA) Library in Zomba and another to the Catholic University.
