MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-This week, the social media has been awash wish the hot news that our honourable parliamentarians turned down and sent away a consignment of life saving kits, commonly known as condoms which Aids Health Foundation went to donate to them in order to enable them protect their lives during the pursuit of erotic pleasure.
According to reports, our honourable leaders use at least 10, 000 condoms each month and it is against this background that Aids Health Foundation acted with great charisma to save the honourables lives beforehand.
I personally feel it is not a very humiliating revelation, after all; considering how paramount our honourable lives are. It is an open secret that most important lives; not only those of parliamentarians, but also of top government officials, private sector gurus and business magnates continue to be lost to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. And it is mother Malawi that largely loses it all.
Let the Members of Parliament not act holier than thou sort of drama. We all know how reckless some of them are when it comes to public display of randy behaviour. University and college girls, young and middle aged ladies in different places of work around our towns and cities are falling prey to the insatiable libidos of some of these August members. But now, they are acting smarter by being economical with truth before the general public that they do not need condoms but masks only!
Yes, of course they really need masks! But they also evidently need the protectors. Period! Government and many other organisations donate free condoms to Malawians who cannot afford to buy; but in the case in point, Aids Health Foundation saw the need to extend its helping hands to the MPs.
The Honourable Members had better tell the truth! Perhaps what they would honourably do, was to advise the NGO to donate the indispensable commodity in camera; if they felt making the donation publicly would shame them, but not necessarily hoodwinking the public by humiliating the donor.
It is actually very obvious that the donor knew before hand that the MPs have money and so they can buy the condoms on their own, but if they finish over 10, 000 in under a month, what it means is that they do not buy the items with the cash they dubiously have; instead they depend on the Parliament donated ones.
In fact, a general opinion would say it is not out of order to protect the lives of our beloved honourables; for, as earlier put, we know that mother Malawi still reels from the loss of important technocrats to the deadly HIV Virus; a situation that greatly retards her social economic development. So, fore-arming them against the infection is as commendable as civic education itself. Doesn’t a stitch in time save nine?
