LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As the heavy fighting between Ukraine and Russia continues, Malawi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it has identified one female Malawian student who is stack in Ukraine and is in need of urgent evacuation.
Speaking with the press, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson John Kabaghe says, the Malawian Mission in Berlin, Germany, is working on assisting the student gain safe passage to Poland where she will fly back home.
Kabaghe says, as the student started to move with her colleagues, the Ukrainian government advised them not to proceed because the situation was volatile.
Reports are also indicating that other two Malawians have reached out to Malawi Government for evacuation in the crisis.
The two have not yet been identified whether they are students or workers.
According to multiple accounts by international media houses, heavy fighting continues to across multiple fronts in Ukraine.

On Thursday night February 24,2022, Ukraine’s President said that 137 people had been killed and and 316 wounded so far, after Russia launched a full scale invasion on his country by land , sea and air.
