Pacific Limited celebrates eight years of borehole rehabilitation

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Pacific Limited is this month celebrating eight years of successful implementation of its free borehole rehabilitation project launched in 2015 as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Its Managing director, Faizal Aboo has told The Maravi Post that the project which seeks to provide equitable access to potable water across the country has so far renovated over 7000 boreholes for free.

“For us, this is a no mean achievement. It has taken the hardworking spirit of our team on the ground as well as the strong coordination we have with our partners especially members of Parliament”, said Aboo.

James Nsusa who is the team leader for the project said their eight years of service mostly in rural areas has helped them to have a better picture of how access to potable water remains a challenge in most parts of the country.

Nsusa therefore appealed for more partners both private and the government for continued success of the project.

Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia whose area the company is currently repairing the broken boreholes has pledged continued government coordination with the institution on the Project.

Malawi is currently grappling to contend with the recurring cholera pandemic, an outbreak experts have attributed to inadequate access to potable water among most Malawians currently at 30 percent.

Through its project, Pacific Limited has helped to reduce the time the communities spend fetching water which they are now using in other productive activities.
