Police in Nkhotakota have seized a large quantity of fuel worth millions of kwacha, which was being smuggled to Mozambique.

According to sources, the police intercepted a consignment of diesel weighing 17,800 litres and petrol weighing 2,000 litres at Kanyangale Port in Traditional Authority Mwadzama.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the smuggling, and they are currently in police custody.

The police have not yet released any information on the suspects or the circumstances surrounding the seizure.

However, sources close to the investigation have revealed that the fuel was being smuggled to Mozambique using a boat.

The seizure is a major blow to fuel smugglers who have been using Malawi’s ports to smuggle fuel to neighboring countries.

The police have been cracking down on fuel smugglers in recent months, and this seizure is a major success in their efforts to curb the illicit trade.

Fuel smuggling is a major problem in Malawi, with millions of kwacha worth of fuel being smuggled out of the country every year.

The government has been working to strengthen border controls and improve surveillance to prevent fuel smuggling.

The seizure in Nkhotakota is a major step forward in this effort, and it is expected to send a strong message to fuel smugglers that their activities will not be tolerated.
