With major donors increasingly hesitant to continue funding President Joe Biden’s campaign and a growing number of Democrats publicly doubting his chances in the upcoming November election, speculation is intensifying that Biden may soon withdraw from the race.
As of Friday, there has been no official confirmation from either the Biden campaign or the White House regarding his potential departure. Should Biden decide to step down, the Democratic Party faces a pressing need to select a new candidate and determine the process for doing so.
The most orderly scenario would involve Biden endorsing an alternative candidate and requesting delegates to transfer their pledged votes to this successor at the Democratic National Convention next month in Chicago. Such a move would aim to ensure a smooth transition and maintain party unity in the critical lead-up to the election.
Democrats will need to act swiftly and decisively to manage the implications of any potential withdrawal, ensuring their campaign remains cohesive and competitive in the face of significant electoral challenges.
