BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Suspended employees of sole state grain marketer Agriculture Development Market Corporation (ADMARC) have defied Leader of Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa’s call of returning to on last Monday, September 5, 2022.
Nankhumwa call came after President Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse government indefinitely closed the corporation over non-performance coupled with corruption.

Agriculture Minister Lobin Lowe on Wednesday last week announced the closure of ADMARC that the company must undergo a complete overhaul.
However in a statement released on Friday, Nankhumwa ordered that all employees must return to work by Monday arguing that Agriculture Minister had no powers to suspended operations of the grain trader.
But The Maravi Post sport check on selected ADMARC selling points in Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Zomba, Blantyre, Mangochi, Salima and Karonga showed no employees apart from guards.
At Area 4 Lilongwe selling point, a guard told this Maravi Post that, “Since that closure was effected, noone has return to work apart from a few one here and there. No work is being done.
“No one has listened to Kondwani Nankhumwa calls to return to work. You could have seen yourself right here,” says the guard.
Malawi government however says only 1, 500 employees are eligible to work while the rest number are ghost workers.
This is not the first time that Nankhumwa’s directive has landed on deaf ears.
The opposition leader has always refuse to speak to this publication on a number of time but keeps on accusing of misquoting him.
