Shame! NCHE deregisters Pentecostal Life University

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The country’s National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has deregistered Pentecostal Life University (PLU) as a higher education institution in Malawi due to its failure to meet minimum standards.

In a letter signed by the chief executive officer for NCHE,Ambumulire Phiri,The decision, made on August 11, 2025, was approved by the Minister of Education on September 12, 2025, following PLU’s non-compliance with the Minimum Standards for Higher Education Institutions.

NCHE says PLU will no longer operate as a higher education institution after the deregistration is gazetted

The letter has given PLU 60 days to prepare students and stakeholders for transition, facilitate student transfers to accredited institution and Submit a database of completed students.

NCHE therefore ensures students’ qualifications obtained before the effective date remain recognized.
