BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Chileka Police Station has apprehended three suspects in connection with a brazen daylight robbery that occurred on Saturday, August 15.
The suspects, identified as Kizito Chilemba, 35, Micheal Kalemba, 39, and Cosmos Kassimu Mussah, 26, are accused of stealing MK800,000 from a passenger in a Toyota Vitz with registration number CZ8239.
According to eyewitnesses and police reports, the incident took place on Zalewa Road Block when the victim, John Maseko, 30, boarded the vehicle heading to Blantyre.
As the vehicle reached the stretch between Lirangwe and Lunzu, the suspects allegedly locked the doors and snatched a bag containing K800,000 before pushing Maseko out of the moving vehicle.
Fortunately, Maseko managed to alert the Lunzu Police Station, which promptly dispatched officers to conduct a thorough search.
The suspects were subsequently arrested, and the stolen money and vehicle were recovered.
The Chileka Police Station spokesperson, Jonathan Phillipo, confirmed the arrests and assured the public that the suspects would face justice.
The police are commended for their swift response and professionalism in handling the case.
The suspects are currently in custody, awaiting arraignment in court.
