MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Mighty Tigers return to their base with 3 points in their bag after a 0-1win against Moyale Barracks in an exciting match played at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday in the 2023 edition of the TNM Super League.

Both teams were quick to settle down but it was the soldiers who appeared more comfortable on the ball in the first five minutes.

But the face of the game changed just after 9 minutes when Moyale Barracks goalkeeper Macdonald Harawa, wishing to restart play in haste, made a costly error to gift tiger Precious Chiudza the ball who made no mistake but to shoot past him. 1 nil led the visiting Tigers.

The soldiers started asking their own questions but Tigers were solid at the back taming their talisman Gastin Simkonda mercilessly.

Further fierce attacks by the soldiers yielded less as they were wasteful in the final attacking third; failing to make use of the scoring opportunities they created.

Several substitutions by both sides in the second half changed nothing on the scoreboard.

It ended 0-1 in favour of the Tigers and tiger Precious Chiudza was named man of the match.

Speaking to this reporter after the match, Moyale Barracks Coach Nicholas Mhango said his charges played very well but failed to put the ball into the back of the net.

“We played very well only that we failed to score. This is something we will rectify and we hope to do better in the forthcoming games,” he said.

The winning coach Christopher Nyambose also hailed his players for working hard to win the game.

Said Nyambose:“We scored an early goal and I told my boys that if we can’t score another goal then we better just defend it and deny them to score. We need to work hard on scoring.”

Moyale Barracks FC is now on position 6 with 13 points from 10 games while Mighty Tigers are on position 8 with 12 points, also from 10 games.
