LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Two Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) were on Thursday suspended from Parliament for two days for causing disorder.

The two lawmakers who have been suspended are Machinga Central East MP Daudi Chikwanje (DPP) and Thyolo West MP, who is also Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works Charles Mchacha.

Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara made the announcement following the conduct of the two who did not abide by the Speaker’s order to get out of the August House after she evoked Standing Order 105 (3) Sanctions against disorderly conduct.

The standing order stipulates that if a member is named, the Speaker may direct that he or she be suspended from the Assembly, on the first occasion, for the two sitting days period from the time of suspension.

The Speaker has also referred the behaviour of Blantyre City South East MP Sameer Suleman and Minister of Sports Francis Phiso who manhandled sergeant at arms, to Parliamentary Services Committee for disciplinary measures.
