KAMPALA-(MaraviPost)-A helicopter belonging to the Uganda People’s Defence Air Forces has crashed at Entebbe near Spennah beach killing one of the two pilots on board, Capt. Caroline Busingye.

The Uganda People’s Defence Air Forces (UPDF) spokesperson Brig. Gen. Flavia Byekwaso confirmed the news in a statement.

Brig. Byekwaso said the light blue helicopter was being piloted by two cadet trainees on a mutual training flight at around 2:15 pm when it came down immediately after takeoff near Lido beach.

Ambulances were dispatched to the scene soon after the incident to help evacuate the injured but according to Daily Express report, Capt. Busingye breathed her last soon after she arrived at the hospital.

Brig Byekwaso has sent the condolences to the family of capt Busingye and the UPDF Air force fraternity following the tragedy.

Last week, four UPDF soldiers were severely injured in a helicopter crash in Somalia while on a mission to support ground troops in the Lower Shabelle region.

Last year, Jet ranger AF302 belonging to the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Air Force (UPDAF) crashed in the district of Gomba in Central Uganda killing all the two people on board.
