LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Vice President Dr. Michael Usi has expressed outrage over the confiscation of his official government vehicle on his Facebook page.
He stated that the lead or pilot vehicle, which carries his security personnel, has been taken away and handed over to someone who is not the Vice President.
Dr. Usi emphasized that the vehicle belongs to the government, not to any private individual or political faction.
He added that even if all other vehicles were taken away and he had to travel in a wheelbarrow, it would not be a problem because he is experienced and capable of managing with limited resources.
He clarified that he earns his own living and is not guilty of any wrongdoing.
What he finds unacceptable, however, is theft and abuse of authority.
Dr. Usi’s post highlights the seriousness of the situation and underscores his commitment to holding those responsible accountable.
The incident exposes deeper issues of misappropriation of public property and a disregard for institutional rules.
It serves as a stark reminder that government assets are intended to serve official duties, not individual or partisan interests.
In conclusion, the confiscation of the Vice President’s vehicle is not merely a logistical inconvenience; it represents a breach of ethics, public trust, and respect for constitutional office.
For a functioning and accountable government, public property must be protected, and officials must respect the roles and privileges assigned to their colleagues.
Until such principles are enforced, incidents like this will continue to undermine confidence in governance and institutional integrity.
