LUSAKA-(MaraviPost)-The brutal killing of Eneless Hellen Kamutumbe, a 46-year-old woman from Chingola, Zambia, has sent shockwaves across the nation.
On March 20, 2026, a mob in Kalumbila District brutally murdered Kamutumbe, accusing her of using witchcraft to make a man’s private parts disappear.
The accusation, later proven false, sparked a violent frenzy, leaving Kamutumbe dead and a family shattered.
Kamutumbe, a successful businesswoman and mother of six, was in the area for work when the incident occurred.
Her death has been widely condemned, with President Hakainde Hichilema and various organizations denouncing the “barbaric” act.
Eight suspects, including the accuser, have been arrested.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of superstition and social envy.
Kamutumbe’s success, symbolized by her ownership of a motorcycle, was allegedly seen as a threat by some, who attributed it to dark magic.
The mob’s violent reaction underscores the need to address these deep-seated beliefs.
Kamutumbe’s family, particularly her two-year-old son, are left to pick up the pieces.
Her death serves as a painful reminder of the importance of promoting critical thinking and combating superstition.
The international community must join Zambia in condemning this heinous act and supporting efforts to dismantle harmful superstitions.
Kamutumbe’s legacy should inspire change, ensuring that no one else falls victim to similar brutality.
