BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Mangochi Traffic Police Officer Patricia Chinguwo has died on duty around Thursday, February 16, 2022 at Mpima forest along Mangochi road after being hit by Toyota Sienta reg no MH8641 .
The car was being driven by a 28-year-old Saidi Malora of Chidongo Village TA Mponda in Mangochi.
Reports indicate that Chinguwo together with her fellow officers was on traffic check at Mpima forest along Mangochi-Liwonde road.
While performing duties, the Sienta red in colour with no passengers driven at high speed from the direction of Mangochi heading Liwonde hit two cones and did not stop.
After about 20 minutes, the officers saw the same vehicle from the direction of Liwonde heading Mangochi at a very high speed.
The officers alerted each other and ran away from the road and the vehicle hit Chinguwo to the near side dirty verge and did not stop.
Following the impact, the officer sustained fractures both legs, arms and severe head injury and she was rushed to Mangochi District Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Postmortem conducted at the hospital revealed that death was due to Hemorrhage shock caused by caused by multiple fractures.
Police conducted manhunt which led to the arrest of the suspect at Ndata residential area and impounded the used motor vehicle.
The suspect Chinguwo came from Benjamin village T/A Kaduku in Mwanza.
