Salima mob sets ablaze Parachute Battalion soldier Kingsley Manjawira for suspected theft

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-An angry mob at Siyasiya Trading Centre in Salima district has killed a Parachute Battalion soldier, Corporal Kingsley Manjawira for allegedly suspected of robbing businessman Yamikani Siliya, money amounting to MK140 000.

It is reportedly that the deceased was living within the district that he went to Siyasiya Trading Centre on the fateful day.

When the businessman Siliya closed his shop at 19:00 hours in the evening and started off home without knowing that he was being followed.

According to National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera, it is allegedly at a short distance, the late Manjawira produced a riffle and demanded money from the businessman and the businessman adhered to the demand for fear of his life.

Kadadzera said after being robbed the businessman shouted for help and the shout prompted community members to start chasing the deceased.

When the late Manjawira was caught, the mob assaulted him to death while setting him ablaze.

Kadadzera added that when the police arrived at the scene found the deceased already dead.

Onlookers handed an air pistol without ammunition which was allegedly seized from the suspect.

Hospital postmortem however revealed that death was due to head injuries.

Meanwhile, police in the district condemn the act of mob justice and warn all those involved in the barbaric act that they will face face the law.

The deceased hailed from Chakwilira Village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Chakhaza in Dowa.
