However, Manda was reluctant to disclose the sponsors, while saying soon the world will come to know them.

“We believe players are major stakeholders of the game hence the need for motivation that’s why as a committee we ran up and down to fetch for sponsors of the accolade.

“Right now we are having players from our league who have been called to national team one of the Promise Kamwendo who benefited from the same initiative last season. The package has already been deposited to our account”, Manda said.

He added as committee they anticipate this award will accelerate the competition amongst the players in the league.

The Maravi Post understands that the man of the match from each game in the second round will be getting MK5,000.

Wimbe United Football Club Chairman James Mataya welcomed the development saying the initiative will help to improve the performances of the teams in the league.

Mataya observes that players will be playing with their lungs out bearing in mind that there is something on the table.

The committee introduced the initiative in the 2021 Chipiku Stores MK15.5 million premier division season where the Committee member contributed the money towards the same.
