APM says he is Humbled by IMF decision to Resume aid to Malawi

1 Min Read

President Mutharika writes on his ever popular Facebook page that, I am very humbled by the decision of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund-IMF to resume aid to Malawi through the Extended Credit Facility-ECF.

The Board yesterday completed the fifth and sixth reviews of Malawi’s economic performance under the program supported by the ECF and agreed to disburse a total sum of about US$18.1 million.

I’ m delighted to note that at the conclusion of the discussion, Mr. Mitsuhiro Furusawa, Acting Chair and Deputy Managing Director, observed that the DPP-led government is showing commitment to rebuilding trust in public institutions.

I must say that my administration will continue to improve the available regulatory frameworks which are key to safeguarding financial sector stability. Let’s join hands to seal all the loopholes and tighten the financial management systems.
