The leader of the UTM party, Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, has stated that the situation on the ground has deteriorated because people are unable to afford three meals a day, despite President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s promises.
He argues that the cost of living has skyrocketed, making life unbearable for many struggling Malawians.
According to Kabambe, President Chakwera should step down from office because he has failed to manage the country’s affairs effectively.
Kabambe’s remarks highlight the growing frustration among Malawians who feel betrayed by the unfulfilled promises of the current administration.
During his campaign, Chakwera pledged to improve the economy and ensure food security, yet many citizens now find it difficult to meet basic daily needs.
The rising cost of essential commodities has left ordinary Malawians feeling hopeless, as wages remain stagnant while inflation continues to soar.
Critics argue that the government’s economic policies have not provided relief for struggling households, leading to widespread dissatisfaction.
Kabambe’s call for Chakwera’s resignation reflects the deepening discontent among opposition leaders and citizens who believe that a leadership change is necessary for progress.
As Malawi moves closer to the next election, the debate over economic hardship and governance will likely intensify, with opposition figures like Kabambe positioning themselves as alternatives to the current administration.
Whether or not Chakwera responds to these criticisms remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—economic challenges continue to dominate political discussions in Malawi.
