LILONGWE (MaraviPost)-Malawi’s Parliament on Monday, December 1, 2025 passed the Revised 2025/2026 national budget following a detailed vote-by-vote scrutiny during the Committee of Supply session.

The revised financial plan was presented on Friday, 21 November 2025, by the Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation, Joseph Mwanamvekha.

The approved budget now allocates K8.589 trillion (MK8,589,231,939,933) to the Consolidated Recurrent and Development budget upward revision from the initial MK8.077 trillion approved at the start of the fiscal year.

According to Minister Mwanamvekha, the MK512.6 billion adjustment is aimed at cushioning expenditure pressures that emerged during the first half of the year.

A significant portion of the increase MK98.5 billion has been directed toward rising costs in wages and salaries.

He therefore requests the August House and all Malawians to support the revenue and expenditure measures introduced in this Mid-Year Budget as such support will enable the Government to begin delivering on its mandate to turn the economy around.
