LONDON-(MaraviPost)-Ousted Malawi president Lazurus Chakwera’s daughter Violet has been recalled back home from office of Malawi Embassy in London in the United Kingdom (UK).
Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Bright Molande’s recalled letter made available to The Maravi Post has given Chakwera three months to prepare herself to return to Malawi.
The Former President was accused of pure nepotism when he sent his daughter to diplomatic mission in UK.
The development marks the beginning of recalling some staff from Malawi’s Embassies.
The Peter Mutharika Democratic Progressive Party (DPP)-led administration through the Minister of Finance in the Revised 2025/26 Fiscal Plan announced that will trim staff in embassies to a maximum five members.
The move is towards austerity measures put across amid Malawi’s ailing economy
