BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s top eight football clubs will begin their quest for Airtel Top 8 glory on June 13, with a lucrative MK40 million prize awaiting the eventual champions.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has lined up the country’s best performing teams from the 2025/26 Super League season for the prestigious knockout competition, which will run until August 29.

The tournament will feature Mighty Wanderers, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Silver Strikers, Blue Eagles, Civil Service United, Karonga United, Ekhaya FC and Creck Sporting.

The competition will be played across several venues nationwide.

Action gets underway with a Lilongwe derby between Blue Eagles and Civil Service United at Bingu National Stadium on June 13 before FCB Nyasa Big Bullets host Ekhaya FC later the same day.

Mighty Wanderers will face Creck Sporting in Zomba while Silver Strikers take on Karonga United in the other quarterfinal fixture.

At stake is not only the trophy but also a K40 million winner’s cheque, making the tournament one of the most rewarding domestic competitions in Malawi.

The runners up will receive MK14 million, while each participating team is guaranteed MK4 million.

The quarterfinals will be played over two legs, giving teams a chance to recover from first leg setbacks.

However, the semifinals and final will be decided in single match encounters where there will be no second chances.

For traditional giants such as Bullets, Wanderers and Silver Strikers, the competition presents another opportunity to assert their dominance.

For clubs like Karonga United, Ekhaya FC and Creck Sporting, it is a chance to challenge the established order and create history.

The tournament is also expected to showcase individual brilliance, with awards set aside for the Player of the Tournament, Top Goal Scorer and Man of the Match performers throughout the competition.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are the defending champions of the Airtel Top 8 after winning the 2025 title against Silver Strikers in the final played at Bingu National Stadium.
