DEDZA-(MaraviPost)-As part of preparations for the reopening of schools in the country, government says it will construct 380 low cost classroom blocks to ease congestion in various schools across the country.

Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MoEST) spokesperson Chikondi Chimala disclosed this in Dedza district whilst commenting on government’s preparedness for school reopening.

According to Chimala, the ministry is also set to distribute 260 tents to various primary, secondary and tertiary institutions aimed at easing congestion in the schools.

Meanwhile, education activist Heston Nalikole has asked government ensure that the classroom blocks should meet quality standards.

“Let me commend government for the initiative as it has come at the right time. However, there should be no cases of substandard work as we are talking of a lot of money that has been pumped in for the project,” Nalikole said.
